The Digital Library of Georgia is pleased to announce the addition of the Vienna News<\/em> to the South Georgia Historic Newspapers Archive:<\/span><\/p>\n

The South Georgia Historic Newspapers Archive now provides access to sixteen newspaper titles published in ten south Georgia cities (Albany,\u00a0Americus, Bainbridge,\u00a0Brunswick, Cuthbert,\u00a0Thomasville, Tifton,\u00a0Valdosta, Vienna, and\u00a0Waycross) from 1845 to 1922. Consisting of over 148,000 newspaper pages, the archive provides historical images that are both full-text searchable and can be browsed by date.\u00a0<\/span>
\n<\/span>
\nThe archive includes the\u00a0<\/span>Vienna News<\/i><\/span>\u00a0(1902-1918),\u00a0in addition to the titles previously available in the archive:\u00a0<\/span>Albany Herald<\/i><\/span>\u00a0(1892-1893, 1900-1901, 1906),\u00a0<\/span>Albany News<\/i><\/span>\u00a0(1867-1892),\u00a0<\/span>Albany Patriot<\/i><\/span>\u00a0(1845-1866),\u00a0<\/span>Americus Times Recorder<\/i><\/span>\u00a0(1881-1921),\u00a0<\/span>Bainbridge Democrat<\/i><\/span>\u00a0(1872-1909),\u00a0<\/span>Bainbridge Search Light\/Post-Search Light<\/i><\/span>\u00a0(1901-1922),\u00a0<\/span>Brunswick Advertiser\/Advertiser and Appeal<\/i><\/span>\u00a0(1875-1889),\u00a0<\/span>Cuthbert Appeal<\/i><\/span>\u00a0(1866-1886), Sumter Republican (1870-1885),<\/span>\u00a0Tifton Gazette<\/i><\/span>\u00a0(1892-1919),\u00a0<\/span>Thomasville Times Enterprise<\/i><\/span>\u00a0(1873-1922),<\/span>Valdosta Times<\/i><\/span>\u00a0(1908-1912),\u00a0<\/span>Waycross Headlight<\/i><\/span>\u00a0(1884-1887),\u00a0<\/span>Waycross Herald<\/i><\/span>\u00a0(1892-1914), and\u00a0<\/span>Waycross Journal<\/i><\/span>\u00a0(1901-1914).<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n


\nThe South Georgia Historic Newspapers Archive is a project of the Digital Library of Georgia as part of the Georgia HomePLACE initiative. The project is supported with federal LSTA funds administered by the\u00a0Institute\u00a0of\u00a0Museum\u00a0and Library Services through the Georgia Public Library Service, a unit of the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia. Digitization is also made possible through the generosity of Randy Sullivan.<\/span>
