{"id":6212,"date":"2017-01-04T10:23:42","date_gmt":"2017-01-04T15:23:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.dlg.galileo.usg.edu\/?p=6212"},"modified":"2017-01-04T10:23:42","modified_gmt":"2017-01-04T15:23:42","slug":"the-athens-clarke-county-library-heritage-room-receives-common-heritage-grant-from-national-endowment-for-the-humanities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.dlg.galileo.usg.edu\/?p=6212","title":{"rendered":"The Athens-Clarke County Library Heritage Room receives Common Heritage Grant from National Endowment for the Humanities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.athenslibrary.org\/athens\/departments\/heritage\" target=\"_blank\">Athens-Clarke County Library Heritage Room<\/a> \u00a0was recently awarded the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.neh.gov\/grants\/preservation\/common-heritage\" target=\"_blank\">Common Heritage Grant<\/a> from the National Endowment for the Humanities (press release\u00a0available <a href=\"https:\/\/www.neh.gov\/files\/press-release\/nov16_grant_awards_and_offers_1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>\u00a0&#8211;see pages 11 and 12 of the document for details).<\/p>\n<p>This grant will be used to digitize privately held historical sources relating to the African American experience in Athens-Clarke County at a series of three day-long digitization events around the community.<\/p>\n<p>Digitized material will be made available to the public with donor permission via the Athens-Clarke County Library&#8217;s partnership with the <a href=\"http:\/\/dlg.galileo.usg.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">Digital Library of Georgia<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/dp.la\/\" target=\"_blank\">Digital Public Library of America<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The project also includes a public lecture series and tours of African American historic sites led by partner groups.<\/p>\n<p>More information, including dates, will be announced soon!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Athens-Clarke County Library Heritage Room \u00a0was recently awarded the Common Heritage Grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (press release\u00a0available here\u00a0&#8211;see pages 11 and 12 of the document for details).
