{"id":7365,"date":"2019-08-13T07:00:31","date_gmt":"2019-08-13T11:00:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.dlg.galileo.usg.edu\/?p=7365"},"modified":"2019-08-13T09:46:29","modified_gmt":"2019-08-13T13:46:29","slug":"dlg-provides-back-to-school-educator-resources-for-the-2019-2020-school-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.dlg.galileo.usg.edu\/?p=7365","title":{"rendered":"DLG provides back-to-school educator resources  for the 2019-2020 school year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Digital Library of Georgia (DLG) welcomes this year\u2019s back-to-school season by making new educator resources based on the Georgia third, fourth, and fifth grade Georgia Social Studies Standards of Excellence (GSE) available at <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/view\/dlg-educator-resources\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">sites.google.com\/view\/dlg-educator-resources<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New items include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A frameable poster and printable postcard featuring Georgia third, fourth, and fifth grade GSE themes, released monthly<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cLink lists\u201d to DLG and Digital Public Library of America (DPLA) resources, organized by Georgia third, fourth, and fifth grade GSE themes and topics<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These new items accompany our existing resources:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A quick-start guide that supports educators and students in their research of original materials<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A sample slide deck for educators<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A guide on using DLG materials<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A postcard of DLG portals with features available for educators<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">National History Day resources that connect K-12 history researchers to primary source documents in the DLG<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A customized National History Day GALILEO portal, designed to simplify access to primary documents, articles, and more for K-12 history researchers (available via GALILEO affiliated K-12 schools. Contact GALILEO at <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.galileo.usg.edu\/contact\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">www.galileo.usg.edu\/contact\/<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for details)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a joint statement, Joy Hatcher, social studies program manager, and JoAnn Wood, social studies program specialist, both with the Georgia Department of Education, said:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe primary sources from GALILEO and DLG provide Georgia\u2019s teachers with a wealth of excellent teaching materials. It is clear that they are working diligently to see that sources are teacher-friendly and aligned to the Georgia Standards of Excellence.
